Instruction Manual
| INTRODUCTION |
The CS-100-1S offer
many features and performance capabilities to
suit a wide range of applications. The unit is
compatible with any voltage style strain gage,
process, DC voltage/current, AC voltage/current,
and Temperature, Displacement, or Pressure inputs.
|
| OPTION
CARDS. |
Optional plug in
output cards offer such features as 0-10 vdc output,
RS-232, RS485, Modbus, DeviceNet, and Profibus-DP.
These options can be used with software available
through CSI to provide live data stream, communications
capabilities, operation through PLC or other control
devices. Readout values and setpoint alarm values
can be controlled through the bus.
Additionally, the digital has a feature that allows
a remote computer to directly control the outputs
of the digital. With the RS232 or RS485 card installed,
the digital can be configured using a Windows
based program.
The digital has four setpoint outputs, implemented
on Plug-in option cards. The plug-in cards provide
dual FORM-C relays (5A), quad FORM-A (3A), or
either quad sinking or quad sourcing open collector
logic outputs. The setpoint alarms can be configured
to suit a variety of control and alarm requirements.
|
| APPLICATIONS |
This
unit can be adapted to any mounting configuration.
Standard issue includes an enclosure suitable
for mounting on existing testing machines. The
package as a retrofit offers digital with enclosure,
pressure transducer or load cell, power cables,
and transducer cables.
Other types of transducers can be installed which
will allow for accurate display of displacement,
temperature, or pressure. This makes the CS-100-1S
a versatile option for any soils, concrete, prestress,
or manufacturing application.
|
DISPLAY
The 5 digit LED display is a variable
intensity unit. Function keys on the front of
the display are clearly marked to eliminate operator
error. Function keys on the front of the indicator
are programmable to any of a variety of functions.
|
MEMORY
& SCALING
All
scaling and configuration parameters are password
protected to avoid accidental altering. Calibration
is burned to non-volatile memory and does not
require a battery backup system for storage. In
short, this eliminates any loss of internal programming
associated with internal battery failure.
Up to 16 points can be entered during calibration.
This feature allows for complete linearization
of any transducer. Linearization eliminates error
and improves the accuracy of the device. All CS-100-1S
digitals are auto ranging. This feature allows
for accuracy of the display from 1% to 100% of
the testing machine range. |
| GETTING STARTED |
| Once your CS-100-1S
is installed on your machine, power up the unit
and allow for a 15 warm up prior to use. |
| The
display will follow a boot procedure and indicate
the version of software installed. |
| Three different
function keys have been programmed to perform
the following functions. These keys are clearly
labeled. |
| DSP
Key: |
This key has been
labeled as the PEAK display key. Pressing this
key will display the maximum value obtained at
the end of the test. |
| F1
Key: |
This
key has been labeled as the RESET key. Pressing
this key will reset the Peak display back to a
non-peak level. This does not turn off the PEAK
display, it simply resets the value to an at rest
value. |
| RST
Key |
This key has been
labeled as the ZERO key. Pressing this key will
allow the operator to tare the display in preparation
for loading a new sample |
PERFORMING
A TEST
| NOTE: |
Assuming this device
is connected to a force testing machine, we will
proceed with the standard procedure for performing
such a test. If this device is connected to another
application, the procedure may differ slightly,
but will be very similar. |
|
1.
|
Power
the digital as described in the earlier section
and allow for proper warm-up |
|
2.
|
Insert
the sample into the testing machine and ensure
proper centering and alignment requirements have
been met. |
|
3.
|
Power
the pump and raise the platen until daylight is
limited to ¼". Place the control valve in the
METERED position. Wait 5 seconds and press the
RESET and ZERO buttons on the display. |
|
4.
|
At
this time you can load the sample and follow the
proper rate of loading. The front display with
be labeled with the units of measurement. In most
cases the load will be shown as LBF X 10. Follow
the display and time your rate of loading. Adjust
the flow control valve to achieve a loading rate
which is appropriate to the standard for the sample
tested. |
|
5.
|
As
you reach failure the loading rate will decrease
until the sample has reach failure. Once failure
is achieved, position the control valves to RETRACT. |
|
7.
|
Press
the PEAK button and the Maximum value achieved
during the test will be displayed |
|
8.
|
Remove
the sample, and record your test values. |
|
9.
|
Proceed
to Step 2 to start your next test. |
CALIBRATION
ASTM recommends annual calibration.
Devices should be calibrated upon installation, or
when any major changes or repairs are made to the
loading system which may affect the integrity of the
testing machine accuracy. Please contact CSI for calibration
or service. Our dedicated staff will provide you with
quality calibration and service at affordable prices.
During period of warranty, to maintain warranty status,
CSI (or a CSI approved agent) must perform all calibration
and service to your CS-100-1S retrofit.
SUMMARY
This device works well will any
concrete, soils, mechanical, or stressing application.
It is a great replacement for analog gauge machines,
or devices which do not allow for data transfer to
your PC. Should you ever loose calibration on the
device, the unit allows for easy entry of calibration
parameters to eliminate down time.
Contact CSI should you experience any difficulty.
We would be glad to offer assistance in any reconfiguration
or service which may be necessary to keep your retrofit
in top operating order.
